Then he was replaced by growing tourism. When it all started — the island is almost split into two parts: one half was for the preservation of animals, and the other didn’t want to quit hunting. As a result, by saving animals, residents lost not only their earnings but also the thirst for adventure that can only be obtained on the hunt.

Now about 90% naselenieto employed in eco-tourism. For tourists were built simple, yet stylish lodges in which to spend the night lovers of whales and dolphins. Gradually the villagers had learned to accept tourists staying at them after the tour to the whales. Sea animals not only attract tourists but also marine fish. Donsol is one of the most famous places in the world to observe the biggest fish on the planet — the whale shark. The whale shark can reach 18 meters in length and weigh up to 15 tons, and she lives to a hundred years. Huge fish, known here under the name of butanding, feeds on small fish and crustaceans, floating among the plankton. Less to disturb the fish swimming with scuba gear is prohibited. You can use only a mask and flippers. The whale shark was on the verge of extinction until, in 1998, the year had not developed a program for its protection, designed to ensure the conservation of this great fish for future generations.
